Spatial Data Quality

Spatial Data Quality Review

As research in the geosciences and social sciences becomes increasingly dependent on computers, applications such as geographical information systems are becoming indispensable tools. But the digital representations of phenomena that these systems require are often of poor quality, leading to inaccurate results, uncertainty, error propagation, and potentially legal liability. Spatial data quality has become an essential research topic within geographical information science.
This book covers many of the cutting-edge research issues related to spatial data quality, including measurement in GIS and geostatistics, the modeling of spatial objects that have inherent uncertainty, spatial data quality control, quality management, communicating uncertainty and resolution, reasoning and decision-making, visualization of uncertainty and error metadata. Spatial Data Quality will be of interest to anyone undertaking research using GIS and related technologies.

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in the Netherlands

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in the Netherlands Review

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in the Netherlands face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus to the Netherlands? How important is the Netherlands compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus vary from one country of origin to another in the Netherlands? On the supply side, the Netherlands also exports radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus. Which countries receive the most exports from the Netherlands? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in the Netherlands. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus for those countries serving the Netherlands via exports, or supplying from the Netherlands via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where the Netherlands fits into the world market for imported and exported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid

Remote Control Impulse Control

Remote Control Impulse Control Review

This game is actually a set of four card games that address three essential skills for inhibiting impulsivity. The game uses remote control symbols to facilitate learning the skills. There are both competitive and cooperative versions for grades 1-5 and for grades 6-9. The two age groups have separate sets of cards. Players then practice one of the three essential skills: They STOP and say what they would do instead, or they REWIND and tell about a similar impulse that they had and learned from, or they FAST FORWARD and describe the possible negative consequences of the impulse. Grades 1-9.

With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus for those countries serving Brazil via exports, or supplying from Brazil via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models. In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Brazil fits into the world market for imported and exported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Brazil in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the share that Brazil is likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize Brazil compared to other major country markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for strategic planning purposes.

Nikola Tesla: Guided Weapons and Computer Technology (Tesla Presents Series, Pt. 3)

Nikola Tesla: Guided Weapons and Computer Technology (Tesla Presents Series, Pt. 3) Review

This work, the third installment of the Tesla Presents series, is based upon legal records associated with the Nikola Tesla vs. Reginald A. Fessenden Patent Interference on the Fundamental AND-Gate logic circuit. While the U.S. Patent Office record is sufficiently important on the basis of its title alone, Tesla winning the claim to this invention, surprisingly the deposition contains heretofore unpublished disclosures by Tesla on the operation of his large high frequency resonators at both the Houston Street laboratory in New York and the Experimental Station in Colorado. Information is presented on what Tesla spoke of as the "art of individualization" for obtaining various levels of security in wireless transmissions. Also included is material on the history of radio-controlled devices, the first practical form of these being Tesla's radio-controlled "teleautomaton" - an operational boat first demonstrated to the public at Madison Square Garden in 1898.

Remote real-time monitoring and control of contamination in underground storage tank systems of petrol products [An article from: Journal of Cleaner Production]

Remote real-time monitoring and control of contamination in underground storage tank systems of petrol products [An article from: Journal of Cleaner Production] Review

This digital document is a journal article from Journal of Cleaner Production, published by Elsevier in 2007. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

Description:
A system to monitor and to control contamination in the soil, as well as in the aquifer is presented. Specifically, the system is suitable to monitor continuously, remotely, and in real-time the soil surrounding underground storage tank (UST) systems, such as in petrol service stations. The system has also functions for remediation, due to the possibility to be configured as a soil venting system. A prototype has been running for more than three years in a petrol service station in Genova, Italy. Results show that, in daily work, frequent small-medium leakages may occur, which may be related to several events, the most frequent of which is the delivery of petrol products to the USTs. In these cases, the system can diagnose the leakage and start remediation by a specific soil venting process. Some considerations on the cost/benefit evaluation of this technology and on the utility to insert it as an important step to assure zero emissions to the soil in connection with petrol product storage and manufacturing are discussed.

GIS Applications in Agriculture, Volume Three: Invasive Species

GIS Applications in Agriculture, Volume Three: Invasive Species Review

While many "alien" plant and animal species are purposefully introduced into new areas as ornamentals, livestock, crops, and even pets, these species can escape into other areas and threaten agricultural and native ecosystems causing economic and environmental harm, or harm to human health. Increasingly, scientists are using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to track and manage the invaders, mitigate the potential rate of spread and level of impact, and protect the native economy and ecosystem.

Beginning with an introduction to the use of GIS technology to capture, store, analyze, manage, and present data, GIS Applications in Agriculture, Volume Three: Invasive Species examines five relevant categories of geographic information including dispersal and transport, prediction and forecasting, mapping of current infestations, maps for management and control tactics, and impact assessment and method of control. It address GIS for studying the population ecology of a new species, niche requirements for species success, and the monitoring and control of several different species including Australian examples of intentionally introduced invasive species, insects and other animals that may also vector a disease, and invasive weed management from prediction to management.

Chapters cover maps and imageries available on various Web sites and provide step-by-step tutorials or case studies that allow manipulation of datasets featured on the accompanying CD-ROM to make maps, perform statistical analyses, and predict future problems. It offers hands-on experience with a variety of software programs that create interactive queries (user-created searches), analyze spatial information, edit data and maps, and present the results of these operations in several different formats. Some of the programs are freeware, others are not, but each can be used to integrate, edit, share, and display geographic information. Color figures are also available on the CD-ROM.
