Towards Enhanced Security and Reliability in Wireless Communications: A Secured Wireless Remote Control and Monitoring System with Redundancy

Towards Enhanced Security and Reliability in Wireless Communications: A Secured Wireless Remote Control and Monitoring System with Redundancy Review

Automated substation monitoring, diagnostics, and remote control systems provide many useful operational advantages. Their widespread use is however limited because of high costs making them economically infeasible. The needs have been concluded to develop new low cost communications and control concepts for medium voltage devices that would enable grid operators to benefit from the advantages by making such solutions economically feasible. This work looks into different solutions to the distance control and monitoring of medium voltage devices and targets to implement a pilot system as an approach to validate the ideas and find possible improvements for the future deployment of such system in industrial use. The objective is to design and implement a reliable and secured wireless remote control and monitoring system based on current available commercial wireless communication networks e.g. GPRS/EDGE/UMTS. Various solutions involving system modular structures, communication means, reliability and security enhancement etc have been proposed and analyzed according to the strict requirements, out of which comes the design and implementation of the pilot system.

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in Thailand

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in Thailand Review

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in Thailand face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus to Thailand? How important is Thailand compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus vary from one country of origin to another in Thailand? On the supply side, Thailand also exports radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus. Which countries receive the most exports from Thailand? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in Thailand. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus for those countries serving Thailand via exports, or supplying from Thailand via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Thailand fits into the world market for imported and exported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus. The total level of imports and

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in Estonia

The 2009 Import and Export Market for Radar Apparatus, Radio Navigational Aid Apparatus, and Radio Remote Control Apparatus in Estonia Review

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in Estonia face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus to Estonia? How important is Estonia compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus in Estonia. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus for those countries serving Estonia via exports, or supplying from Estonia via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Estonia fits into the world market for imported and exported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, and radio remote control apparatus. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Estonia in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the share that Estonia is likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize Estonia compared to other major country markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for strategic planning purposes.

Hydrogeophysics (Water Science and Technology Library)

Hydrogeophysics (Water Science and Technology Library) Review

This ground-breaking work is the first to cover the fundamentals of hydrogeophysics from both the hydrogeological and geophysical perspectives. Authored by leading experts and expert groups, the book starts out by explaining the fundamentals of hydrological characterization, with focus on hydrological data acquisition and measurement analysis as well as geostatistical approaches. The fundamentals of geophysical characterization are then at length, including the geophysical techniques that are often used for hydrogeological characterization. Unlike other books, the geophysical methods and petrophysical discussions presented here emphasize the theory, assumptions, approaches, and interpretations that are particularly important for hydrogeological applications. A series of hydrogeophysical case studies illustrate hydrogeophysical approaches for mapping hydrological units, estimation of hydrogeological parameters, and monitoring of hydrogeological processes. Finally, the book concludes with hydrogeophysical frontiers, i.e. on emerging technologies and stochastic hydrogeophysical inversion approaches.

The 2009 Report on Electromechanical-Pneumatic Door Controls, Closers, and Checking Devices with Hold-Open Mechanism Released by Integral or Remote Smoke Detector: World Market Segmentation by City

The 2009 Report on Electromechanical-Pneumatic Door Controls, Closers, and Checking Devices with Hold-Open Mechanism Released by Integral or Remote Smoke Detector: World Market Segmentation by City Review

This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "electromechanical-pneumatic door controls, closers, and checking devices with hold-open mechanism released by integral or remote smoke detector" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

The 2011-2016 World Outlook for Electromechanical-Pneumatic Door Controls, Closers, and Checking Devices with Hold-Open Mechanism Released by Integral or Remote Smoke Detector

The 2011-2016 World Outlook for Electromechanical-Pneumatic Door Controls, Closers, and Checking Devices with Hold-Open Mechanism Released by Integral or Remote Smoke Detector Review

This econometric study covers the world outlook for electromechanical-pneumatic door controls, closers, and checking devices with hold-open mechanism released by integral or remote smoke detector across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-a-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for electromechanical-pneumatic door controls, closers, and checking devices with hold-open mechanism released by integral or remote smoke detector. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

Spatial Data Quality: From Process to Decisions

Spatial Data Quality: From Process to Decisions Review

Producing maps that depict the real world accurately has been a major concern of cartographers for centuries. This is especially true today as escalating access to geospatial data and the subsequent increase in user-generated content provided by Web 2.0 have significantly altered the typical processes used to produce, distribute, and use geospatial data.

Focusing on users and decisions as well as the data, Spatial Data Quality: From Process to Decisions provides an up-to-date overview of scientific progress in this core sub-discipline of the Geographic Information Sciences. Presenting results from a number of current research projects in spatial data quality (SDQ) — from the assessment of data accuracy to legal aspects relating to the quality of geographic information — this reference reflects the changes in practice in response to the rapid technological developments over the past decade.

An impressive panel of internationally recognized expert contributors focuses on the relationship between the quality of geographic data and the quality of decisions based on such data. Structured for easy reference, the first section of the book discusses conceptual approaches to SDQ, the second presents a number of applications of spatial data quality methods, the third looks at SDQ issues for remote sensing data, and the final section presents papers that consider the interface between the law and SDQ.

In addition to the main chapters presented in each section, a number of shorter notes present on-going and recent research projects investigating various aspects of spatial data quality.
